The Quality Assurance Engineer (North East UK) Required by this major Defence Company. MOD Security Clearance Criteria applies to this role.


Responsible for providing a quality assurance focus for all products to ensure the consistent delivery of the product, and/or services, to the highest quality levels, and thus maintain the integrity of the process and product throughout the project lifecycle.


All applicants should possess the ability to work as part of a team or as an individual coupled with a capacity to promote the principles of continuous improvement through business change together with sound product knowledge, understanding the processes applied to the product both internally and externally through the product life cycle. This will require the engineer to have a basic knowledge in Metallurgy, Electrics and Electronics, (may be required to audit / investigate one or all trade disciplines or supplier). Applicants must be able to demonstrate competency across the range of assurance and auditing techniques together with an understanding of all business processes which could impact on the integrity of Product Quality throughout it s lifecycle.


It is important that applicants should be well organised in order to plan, manage and complete tasks in line with the agreed departmental targets and objectives and the successful applicant will have direct responsibility for, but not limited to, the following activities:

Assist with the development, implementation and continuous improvement of all data capture systems within the quality remit. Assist with Closed Loop Corrective Action System (CLCA) systems and the preparation of reports in conjunction with the Quality Change Control Panel (QCCP). Attend Incident Sentencing Committees, reporting on Quality related incidents (internal or external). Attend Daily Stand-ups on the shop floor when required, reporting on all Quality related issues; Prepare weekly / monthly reports from data capture systems; Liaise with purchasing on supplier-related issues, carry out investigations to speed up responses and resolve issues. Relative to this the engineer will attend supplier review meetings as and when required. Assist in supplier audits and evaluations as a result assist in calculation of supplier vendor rating. Attend Batch Test Trials and ISRD as detailed by the SQE.
