Position Summary:
our client is seeking a Sales Application Engineer to work with our Renewable Energy team in Berlin, Germany. In accordance with our client's strategies and plans, the Sales Application Engineer will provide timely and effective sales and technical applications to support our client's customers, prospects, representatives and distributors. The SAE will work in a team environment, supporting the European Sales organization. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Sales and Marketing, the Sales Application Engineer will:
Responsibilities:
* Travel throughout Europe to provide technical sales support and training and to support Sales Managers, as needed
* Provide technical support to customers, prospects, representatives and system integrators
* Assist prospects, representatives and distributors in selecting and/or designing the best performance/price match of our clients product for their application
* Respond to technical problems for major accounts related to sales of our products
* Act as a liaison between customers and the our clients Engineering team to solve problems that require expertise at a higher technical level
* Maintain awareness of competitive products, comparisons to our clients vs. features, benefits, pricing, strengths and weaknesses
* Collaborate with Product Management, providing input for product improvements and new product development
* Report to Sales Management any large order opportunities, business activity and customer problems
* Collaborate with internal solar products teams, including Engineering, Quality, Service, Product Management and Manufacturing to address customer issues as they arise from time to time
* Perform other departmental duties, as required
Qualifications:
* Requires a university degree with a technical focus or equivalent experience with at least 6 years in a product and service support environment, preferably in an application engineering position in a related industry
* Thorough knowledge of three-phase electrical systems and applications
* Thorough knowledge of power conversion technology and electrical system designs
* Knowledge of solar power system design, including specifically grid-tie solutions preferred
* Excellent telephone manner and customer service skills
* Strong organizational skills with attention to details
* Strong problem solving skills
* Ability to travel throughout Europe and internationally for extended periods of time
* Strong computer skills with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
* Requires strong written and verbal communication skills in both German and English
* A good work ethic, along with high energy and a positive attitude
* Strong approach to team work and collaboration; to work in a flexible and changing/demanding environment
