Nijmegen, The Netherlands (NXP fabs).

Cafe van Rijn, on Moelenstraat.

'About 20m from McDonalds heading towards the terrifying Kaiser Karelplein roundabout in the city centre', writes Ron Campbell who very kindly sent this one in

The only place in Nijmegen to sell Leeuw (Lion) beer on tap. Excellent beer (or lager if you're a Brit). Leeuw beer comes from a small brewery (in Limburg I think).

Taxi rank is right outside

Good service, good beer, light snacks (sausage, cheese, nuts) and quiet chatty pub with good background music. TV only for major events or on request. Great place to talk and bitch about problems after a long day in the fab.

A fascinating evening was when Holland were playing in a world cup game, and lost. We had expected a party, but, a riot started in Moelenstraat and various parts of the city centre, thanks to the local football hooligans. The Riot Police ordered everyone out of the pub, and, therefore, into the riot. The owner argued. and then refused, on the grounds of his customers' safety. So the Nijmegen ME (Riot Police) ordered us to stay in the pub!

'Great excuse for a hangover the next day..."It was The Police .....THEY TOLD US WE HAD TO STAY IN THE PUB AND LOCKED US IN!".  We didn't get to bed until 2 in the morning, very drunk and perfectly safe. The tool start up was slowed down a bit though.....'

Thanks Ron, great write-up.
