 Our correspondent writes: 'I'd like to kick off the Irish section by recommending a lovely seaside pub in Baltimore, West Cork called Bushe's Bar. It's a cozy,  family run pub full of interesting maritime artefacts. I don't have the exact address, but you can't miss it as it's the only proper pub  on the waterfront.'

'It's the perfect place to pass a leisurely afternoon chatting with  locals and puzzling over the crossword. I only drink Guiness in Ireland, but you can also find other good local brews.'

'Remember that a half pint is called a glass in Ireland, not that you'll probably order one!'
