This is another find by Alan Hutton who has an amazing talent for locating good beer in exotic places.
Alan writes:
"The Seasons Craft Brewery can be found in the neighbourhood of Anchieta, Port Alegre in
"Today, they have three signature beers on tap; namely, the "Green Cow" which was their first American IPA is very bitter, tastes full of hops and get's it's name from "cows that are very important to the manufacturing process since the crushed malt (organic waste) is a favorite food of cows" as quoted by Seasons Craft. The "Funhouse" is a Belgian blond beer and get's it's name from circuses and amusement parks where you amuse and amaze visitors !"
"The one I tried," continues Alan, "had hints of orange and coriander so it's was certainly fun but had a rather strange after taste which could either be attributed to the fruit and veg ingredients or the type of yeast used which comes from Belgian Trappist monks. Lastly, the "Cirilo" looks just like a Guinness but is classed as a coffee stout and they are very much on the mark with this one since the predominant flavor and aroma is just coffee with a typical bitterness and only balanced with the essence of vanilla and herbal flavours on the back of American "alpha" hops and roasted barley. As they say, the perfect excuse to replace coffee in the morning."
"They have a number of other lesser drunk beers such as the Wallace Amber, the BigFoot Russian Imperial Stout and the Harvest Ale all of which I never tried but are allegedly very good too."
"Overall, an interesting little start-up microbrewery with ambitious plans to expand their range over the next few years," says Alan, "maybe we can expect to see the Pele Pilsner appear with a "special kick to thrill you" - who knows with this crowd. "
