Eric Janson, Of Austria Microsystems very kindly sent this one in, and he has this to say about it:

"The Mermaid in Tokyo (2 min by foot from Akasaka-Mitsuke metro station) is an excellent pub with Guiness, Spitfire, Hoegaarden, Kirin Ichiban and another four on tap, numerous bottled choices as well as a couple of ciders.  Food is not especially outstanding but the most important thing is the atmosphere which is like a real pub in the middle of Tokyo - hard to pull off but they do.  Live sports, mishmash of tables and chairs, stale beer smell - GREAT!  Always a curious mix of expats and locals.  Exit the Akasaka- Mitsuke Metro stop to the narrow street in the entertainment sector, and turn left (heading away from the Hew Otani Hotel.)  A couple of short blocks on the right and you are there, it is on the corner ground floor of the Hotel Granbell."
