No.VI Chophouse

Novi, Detroit, Mi, USA

The No.VI Chophouse is the restaurant of the Hotel Baronette on the Novi Road.

On the downside:

The hotel is looking a bit tatty, though I am told it is due for renovation.

The restaurant is  dark and moody (though, apparently, family friendly), and typically  for  the US, offers  large  portions and  good (slightly over fussy) service at a reasonable price.

The beers are  bottled, not draught.

On the upside: the menu is wide enough to  give  a decent choice without offering a million dishes all done badly. Standouts are the steaks and the desserts.

Surprisingly the wine list is augmented by an impressive list of some 20-odd international bottled beers. Although there are the standards such as Kirin and Newky Brown, there are half a dozen Belgian Lambics and Trappist beers, and a handful of  international bottled beers. The list also features few interesting locals, including the dark, heavy trappist-style "Final Absolution" from the Dragonmead Brewery co, and a decent selection of English bottled ales.

If you find yourself stuck in Novi at  one of the hotels on or by the shopping Mall (as I was)  you  could  do  worse.
