Shanks' Pony and the LVCC

When it's quicker to walk and the weather's warm and dry, why do American prefer to take a taxi or a bus?

It’s a 15 minute walk from my hotel to the Las Vegas Convention Centre and the waiting time for the queue for taxis between 9am and 10am, when the centre opens, is about 20 minutes.

The taxi ride takes 20 minutes because of congestion and the chaos caused by the super-bossy, but inefficient, parking officials at LVCC means that another five to ten minutes is spent trying to park to let passengers out.

There’s a shuttle bus service which is dreadful because you queue to get on, the ride takes the same 20 minutes, but the bus takes longer than a taxi, maybe 10 to 15 minutes, to find a parking bay.

The weather is warm; it is not raining. Shanks’ pony is the obvious option and, if I’m on my own, or with another Brit, Shanks’ pony is how I get to the LVCC.

But if I’m with an American they take if for granted we’ll go by taxi or by shuttle bus.

Why is that?
