Inspired Idea from Bristol

What's the next thing you do after you've come off the flight and checked into your hotel? You hit a bar.The question is: Which bar?

The semiconductor industry trails around the same old spots: Silicon Valley, Dallas, Austin, Boston, Munich, Sophia Antipolis, Tokyo, Osaka, Frankfurt, Friesing, Seoul, Taipei, Hsinchu, Lund, Kista, Caen, Grenoble, Aalberg etc etc, but how do you know which bar to go to to get a decent pint?

Obviously it's not difficult in Munich. But in say, a beer desert like America, how do you know where to go?

Asking the locals doesn't help, they send you somewhere they like with 'the coldest beer in town' or some such rubbish.

The only sure thing to rely on is the accumulated wisdom of beer-savvy travellers who have scouted the trail before us.

Did you know there's a great micro-brewery in Campbell, CA., called Rock Bottom? Or that you can get a decent pint at C.B.Hannegans in Los Gatos? Or at Fido's in Austin? Or at the Triple 7 brewery in the Main Street Station Casino in Las Vegas?

Noel Hurley of Xmos suggests an industry support mechanism of a beer guide for travellers on the semiconductor trail.

The more information that can be compiled on the subject, the more effective this support mechanism will be. So everything and anything you can tell us will be welcome.

Please send any information you may have, either as a comment to this blog, or to my email at david.manners@rbi.co.uk.

What a wonderful idea.

How do we make it happen?

Could EW start a dedicated blog page or a WiKi on that topic, and then everyone could contribute.

Roberto, thank,s That's a good way to go. I'll ask our IS people if they can set up a siter where everyone can post in entires on good beer sources.
I'll let you know how it goes
Best wishes
David
