Hurrah! Buckshee WiFi For London

Brilliant! Exactly what London needs. A free WiFi service opened this week for London. It is accessible for the 22 kilometre stretch of the Thames between Greenwich and Millbank.

The big future for WiFi was always going to be free public access systems, and enlightened cities such as San Francisco and Philadelphia already provide that.

It’s good that London has become one of the enlightened few.

It’s rather shaming that Heathrow and Gatwick charge outrageous amounts for WiFi access, while WiFi is free at so many foreign airports.

The new London service is provided by two service provider companies acting in partnership. One is called free-hotspot.com and the other MeshHopper. They call their partnership ‘online-4-free.com’.

Would-be users of online-4-free.com have to watch a 15-30 second advert to get the service which delivers 256Kbps.

Who’s next? Paris and Manchester are expected to be the next two cities to provide free WiFi access.
