Marketing Genius In Taiwan

Just who are these Asus guys? Hard on the heels of its Eee laptop, apparently America’s most wanted Christmas present, is coming a laptop encased in bamboo.

Before the Eee and the bamboo, Asus brought out a laptop covered in pink leather.

Now it’s not too tricky to see for whom a pink leather notebook was designed.

But a bamboo one? Could it be for those who still retain fond memories of being caned at their public schools?

Of course Asus say it’s for the eco-minded, and are actually intending to call it the ‘Ecobook’.

But maybe these Asus guys have identified a clever way to target big spending groups. Want to attract the pink pound? Well, have a pink leather laptop. Want to attract the flagellant florin? Well, give ‘em a bamboo laptop.

What next? Pitching for the dolly dollar? Well, have a silk-covered laptop smelling of Chanel No.5. Angling for the fisherman’s forint? Well, have a fish skin covered laptop smelling of mackerel. After cricketers’ coppers? Well, go for a willow-covered laptop of course.

Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, ad infinitum.

Clearly these Asus guys are marketing geniuses.
