Who Delivers? Fairchild? Or Intel?

“Fairchild Semiconductors are taking significant steps to build up their marketing operations in Britain following their June announcement of their entry into the UK”, is how the lead story opens on Electronics Weekly’s front page of September 3rd 1969.

“The appointment of three distributors Analog Devices, Macro-Marketing and Semiconductor Specialists is announced”, continues the story.

“Ken Bradshaw, who heads up the company’s UK operation (later of course, Plessey Semiconductors’ marketing boss) explained that he wants a true technical distributor service capable of solving customers’ technical problems and not just a means of fulfilling orders,” adds the article.

“In fact, ‘Fairchild – where technology is delivered’ is to be one of their advertising slogans”, reads the story.

So that’s where Intel got their ‘Intel Delivers’ slogan from!

HAPPY EASTER. NEXT POST WILL BE ON MARCH 25TH
