Being in
On the telly all you see is the candidates slagging eachother off. Maybe they do have agenda and policies but the bits you see on the box are simply personal attacks.
If this is indeed the tenor of the campaign, you think it couldn't work like this in the
It would reflect badly on someone who spent all their time slagging off the other side. They would come across as petty, obsessive and nasty.
Another thing which seems odd is that Senator McCain and Governor Palin spend an inordinate amount of time saying that Senator Obama wants to 'spread the wealth around'.
This would be regarded as rather a good thing to want to do by most British people. After all isn't there a saying that money, like muck, does most good when spread thin?

It's amusing to see that even the TV channels get into the thing, getting really heated with eachother's coverage. Fox News was apoplectic about a CNN interview of Governor Palin.
But Governor Palin comes across as someone who doesn't need much protection. She dishes the dirt enthusiastically, calling Obama a 'socialist', which is apparently a term of abuse in the

I wish they will find some visible but harmless position for Gov Palin after the election. Its a character no fiction could ever describe.
And yet, half the people seem to think theres nothing wrong with her.
I think this visible and harmless position should be President of Finland. After all she could probably go ten rounds with an Elk, ride a reindeer round the Arctic Circle, and drink a gallon of vodka for breakfast, which are probably the required qualifications for the job.
Actually Palin would probably be an improvement for us. Less boring than the current female pres for sure. But there are dangers involved. She would be very close to Russia. Would she attack them on her very first day?
And could she handle the vodka?
The Russian angle is key. She's probably the only Western politician who can scare the pants off Vladimir Putin.
