The story continues:
'These somewhat dramatic moves were first considered only three months ago, and are indicative of the way National have grown since Charlie Spock took control in February 1967 when it had a five million dollars a year turnover. This year turnover is expected to be close on 50 million dollars.'
'Up till now National have been known for their linear ICs and for their MOS products, but all these expansion moves are to provide mainly production capability for the manufacture of digital TTL devices,' continues the story, 'the aim is to have a worldwide TTL production capability to manufacture a million circuits a month, and to tip Texas Instruments off their top TTL perch.'
'The possibility of the company starting to manufacture DTL circuits later must not be rules out,' concludes the story, 'the Scottish factory is to be at Cumbernauld and is to be opened by mid-September. Production will start with TTL and the manufacture of MOS integrated circuits is scheduled to follow in January 1970.'
