The Whispering Announcements At Orly

Under the headline: 'All quiet for Orly' a story on the front page of  Electronics Weekly's edition of March 8th  1961, reads:

'Three thousand low-volume loudspeakers have been installed at Orly Airport by Pathe Marconi, a member of the EMI group in France', continues the story.

'The installation is part of a new public address system which is designed to give airline passengers the feeling of more individual attention.'

Now there's a thought! How much more sensitive to passenger needs airport operators were 58 years ago.
