Ed The Serial CEO: The Board Meeting

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

This is the second entry from the diary of Edward Rushbridger, the IC industry serial CEO, which came into my hands recently:

'Board Meeting this morning. It's unnerving being in a meeting with five guys, including two company founders, all of whom know more about the company than me.

They resent it that the investors made me CEO. They don't say it, but I know. They wanted it to be one of them.

I came in this morning wearing a suit with no tie. They all wore ties.

First item on the agenda was discussion of a new product line based on the 802.15 standard.

Unfortunately I mentioned the potential of Wimax. There was a shuffling, a froideur, a sense of embarrassment. I looked up.

One of the founders, Andy Collingwood, said in a monotone: "We're talking here about personal area networks  - short-range stuff - Wimax's range is four miles - 802.16 not 802.15."

Shit, Oh Double Shit, I thought.

Only 438 days to go till we IPO and I'm outa here
