The Strangest-Ever Proposal Put To A VC

The strangest proposal ever put to a VC has to be the one put to Tom Perkins, co-founder of Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, the premier Silicon Valley VC company.

Perkins recalls, in his book Valley Boy, how he got a letter from a TV producer called Jessica James suggesting he should offer himself as the prize for which a dozen gorgeous cuties would compete.

Each week, Perkins would take out one of these birds and frolic around with her. The thirteenth show would cover his marriage to the girl he liked best.

Although Perkins didn't fancy going into the deal as originally suggested, like a good VC he came up with a twist which turned it into a viable project: He would use it as the basis for a novel.

And so Perkins came to write 'Sex and the Single Zillionaire'. He wrote the first draft in three weeks at his Sussex manor house.

It's sort of Harold Robbins/Jackie Collins but none the worse for that.

SOMETHING FOR THE WEEKEND: Monday's Poll is: Who Was The Best VC?
