50 years ago this year, in the September 14th 1960 edition of Electronics Weekly, there was this entry under the heading 'Quotes Of The Week':
"Office routine is inhuman enough already, so we had better be on our guard when it gets into the hands of moronic computers lest we be brought unwittingly one stage nearer the ant".
The remark was made by the Managing Director of Tate & Lyle, Peter Runge, during his address to the 11th Annual Congress for Apprentices organised by the Industrial Welfare Society.

Wow, i wasn't around when this statement was made, but I can't fathom how, 50 years ago, ants had (apparently moronic, but that's beside the point) computers running their lives! Phew !
