Noisy Fish

'Fish are noisy eaters, according to Fred Methner, a Berlin amateur diver who has made a hobby of recording fish sounds on tape through a special underwater microphone developed by a German firm.'

So, 50 years ago this year, started a story in Electronics Weekly's edition of September 21st 1960.

The story continues:

"A Scalare (Angelfish) sounds much kike the nibbling of a rabbit, but precedes each bite with a smack that sounds like a cork leaving a bottle of champagne," says Methner.

"The eating noises of the piranha", says Methner, "sound like the crunching of a grab bucket conveyor when its iron teeth bite into a pile of stones."
