TSMC's Duff Design?

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

Design for manufacturing is a worthy aim in a chip manufacturing environment which has become fraught with the evils of leakage and power density ceilings.

So chip designers will be pleased to learn that the world’s largest silicon foundry, TSMC of Taiwan, has produced a database which allows a designer to tune his tools for speed, accuracy and ease of use.

So far so good. But TSMC has elected to bestow upon this database one of those awful names which engineers concoct.

They call it Design for Manufacture Unified Format.

The acronym for which, TSMC tells us, is DUF.
