Proving that being big can make a difference, Molex has been working on giving something back via solar technology.
In my previous Blog – Only Connect: Molex and the Solar powered vehicle – Molex and their student design team from University of Michigan were working on producing a solar car for the World Solar Challenge 1,800 mile race in Australia.
In the same theme they now have a project series, “Innovators,” which follows college students and companies that are improving the world through technological innovations. In the first episode they tell the story of innovative Illinois Institute Of Technology students who have been working to bring power to a school computer lab in rural Haiti. See how solar energy powers donated laptops where traditional power grids don’t exist.
You can see a video plotting their progress (and see below).
This also shows the importance of new technology as we continue to move away from traditional energy sources. You just never know if one day you may need technology like this.
This is inspiring and serves to remind us to keep putting something back as I believe this is the path to making a real difference!
