SVHC-the main players

While the German Competent Authority leads the way with six potential submissions for new Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) the original batch, announced in October, was shared across seven countries.

France with five submissions, Norway (3), Sweden, Austria, Germany (2 each) and Holland and the UK with one each made successful submissions.

Ten were considered CMR (carcinogen, mutagenic or toxic to reproduction), five PBT (persistent bioaccumulative and toxic) and one vPvB (very persistent and very bioaccumulative).

The name of the substance where it features in a product at a level of 0.1% by weight, and supporting safe use data is obligatory and must flow downstream according to Article 33 of the REACH Regulations (see page 58 of the attached ECHA guidance).
