China RoHS - a thirst for information

When I review the "hits" on this column there is always a surge when I blog on anything to do with China RoHS.

This is clearly due to the general dearth of information and the lack of announcements from the Chinese authorities.

The first draft catalogue of Electronic Information Products that will be subject to China RoHS substance restrictions was published during October 2009.

The scope covered the six EU RoHS substances, with exemptions but was limited to mobile handsets and telephones (with 10 exemptions) and computer printers (12 exemptions).

The draft currently sits with the World Trade Organisation Technical Barriers to Trade Committee. The legislation will enter into force ten months after it is adopted.

I have updated my "step-by-step" guide and reduced the file size for downloading purposes.
