RoHS heads towards the OJ

The Department of Business Innovation and skills has published the latest version of its RoHS Guidance Notes.

The RoHS recast is likely to be approved in Council next month and published in the Official Journal (OJ) of the European Union shortly afterwards. Member States will then have 18 months to transfer in to national law.

New product categories that will fall in scope include medical equipment (not IVD) 3 years after the recast enters into force, IVD 5 years, consumer monitoring and control 3 years (industrial 6 years) and the open scope category 11 that will capture all electrical and electronic equipment not included in categories 1 to 10 unless specifically excluded.
