RoHS exclusions and the open scope

As part of the RoHS recast the European Commission will review both scope and additional substance restrictions within 3 years.

On a separate note several of the product areas that will be excluded as part of the recast, which is now expected to be published in the Official Journal in June, could potentially be captured in 2019 under the open scope category 11.

Examples could include:

+ Equipment designed to go in to space

+ Large-scale stationary industrial tools

+ Large-scale fixed installations

+ Means of transport

+ Non-road mobile machinery for professional use

+ R&D equipment only available on a B-to-B basis

+ Medical devices and In Vitro Diagnostic devices
