What will this blog be covering?

This blog showcases what's happening on the Electronics Weekly website. It gives a great chance to highlight new features on the site and throw the spotlight on existing content that may not otherwise be getting its full share of attention. In the coming months there will also be plenty of new points to highlight!

To supplement these 'web editor' postings, I'll also keep an eye on microprocessor developments (keeping the 'ramblings' in Electro-ramblings). It is a news beat I have covered for years, so I am glad to keep my hand in, as it were...

For example, there's today's news that Intel has taken its desktop Extreme dual-core chip to laptops, with a mobile version, the Intel Core 2 Extreme X7800. Laptops featuring the new chip - which Intel claims presents a 28 percent performance gain on its predecessors - are expected to appear within a couple of weeks.
