A feed for the news on Electronics Weekly.com

Check out the breaking news on Electronics Weekly.com.

ARM has just lifted the embargo around its Cortex A9 multiprocessor architecture. The company is launching a new processor architecture specifically for multiprocessors that can put several processors in the space of a single high performance core. It's aimed at consumer and low power applications, such as next generation mobile phones.

Also, Alex Lidow - the son of Eric Lidow, founder and chairman of IR - has stepped down as chief executive officer of power semiconductor maker International Rectifier with immediate effect. Lidow went on leave of absence in August while IR undertook an internal investigation into accounting irregularities at the company. In a regulatory filing in May this year IR stated that its financial statements dating back to September 2005 "should no longer be relied upon."

The best way to get the news as soon as it is published? RSS! (Did you see that one coming?)
