How fares the browser war in November?

firefox.jpg

It's that time again for the periodic browser question: how fare the armies on the battlefield of cyberspace? How does Firefox compare to Internet Explorer when it comes to readers of ElectronicsWeekly.com? How is the battle faring on our particular piece of electronics turf?

The stats for the last month are:

1. Internet Explorer 6.0 (41.3% - down 5.7% since our last check, in October)

2. Internet Explorer 7.0 (30.3 - up 3.3%)

3. Firefox (22.2% - up 2.2%)

4. Opera 9.x (1.4% - up 0.3%)

5. Safari (0.6 - up 0.04%)

6. Internet Explorer 7.0 (AOL) (0.4% - no change)

In a nutshell, the gains for Internet Explorer 7 don't fully match the drift away from IE 6, with Firefox being the main beneficiary, along with a slight gain for Opera. We'll be keeping an eye on this one, and please do let us know if ElectronicsWeekly.com ever doesn't behave itself in Firefox - we can't promise the site will work perfectly for all browsers, but we want to avoid any 'IE-only' issues.
