I Can't Believe Someone Makes... Voice Recognition Grocery List Organisers

voice recognition grocery organiser.jpgThe ultimate in decadent convenience? Want to save the effort of pushing a heavy pencil across scratchy unpleasant paper and making your own list? I know I do. Well, here's the device for us: the SmartShopper SS-301 Voice-Recognition Grocery-List Organizer.
"This device stores and prints grocery lists generated from the items you speak into its microphone," writes the Hammacher.com website. "Using an integrated voice recognition system, the shopping list manager matches a spoken item with one of the 2,500 food, beverage, household, beauty, and office products in its database. Each spoken product appears on the LCD and you can add it to the list and print an alphabetized record with the touch of a button."
grocery list detail.jpgApparently, you can manage two different lists simultaneously (I never thought groceries management could be so involved), add products to the database (up to a maximum of 5,000 items), and customize the sequence in which the products print. This, believe it or not, is intended "to correspond with the layout of your grocery store".

Hold that thought. You are so familiar with a supermarket that you can mentally stroll the isles and pre-prepare. Clearly I am but a shopping amateur....

Requiring four AA batteries, the device would set you back a cool $100, minus five cents.

Actually, hold on. What's this? "We regret that this item is no longer available", states the Hammacher site. Does this mean no one makes voice recognition grocery list organizers? I can't believe no one makes voice recognition grocery list organizers... Phew, they are still being made. You can get them on Amazon, too.
