I can't believe someone makes... Drill-powered pencil sharpeners

drill pencil sharpener.jpgThe more I think about this one, the more it actually makes sense. Almost.

The idea of manually feeding things into a drill didn't seem great, and that was followed by the thought of having a drill in the office to cater for stationery sharpening needs...

But of course builders or carpenters may constantly work with pencils for measurements, and the thought of constantly carrying a pencil sharpener may almost be as absurd to them as me carting a drill into an office...

C.H.Henson makes these Pro-Sharp Finishing Pencil Carpenters, which Amazon.com sells for $6.30. Features of the product are described as:
  • "World's first chuckable drill powered pencil sharpener"
  • "Universally fits any drill or 1/4" (65mm) quick change system"
  • "Produces a fast, consistent pencil point every time"
Check out the video of some hard core shaping:

Thanks to LikeCool.com for this one, and highlighting the reviews on Amazon. While not on the scale of the reader reviews of the steering wheel laptop holder (* strongly recommended as worth a read), I particularly liked this one:
New pencils are too long. It takes hours of chewing or whittling to get them reduced to a manageable size. This drill powered pencil sharpener cuts my pencil reduction time by at least 90%. Ever household needs one!
This one was slightly more serious (I think...):
This is the next best thing to sliced bread in a bag! Sharpened a gross (144) pencils in less than 15 minutes! This item paid for itself in the first use!
(Someone points out on YouTube, too, why not just put a pencil in the drill chuck - if you really want to use a drill - and use the cheap, standard everyday sharpener?)
