Not Quite (But Almost) A Darwin Award Winner

snow1208a.jpg

We had a big snow fall in Boston this week, as evidenced from this wintery scene out my back window. We're definitely going to have a white Christmas!

Most people here use conventional snow and ice removal devices like shovels and choppers to dig out, but not one highly inspired, not-quite-but-almost-a-Darwin-Award-Winner:

Reports boston.com in "Mass Man Melting Snow With BlowTorch Ignites Home":

."....the man was using a torch hooked up to a 20-pound propane cylinder. He got too close to the building's wood frame and ignited the vinyl siding. The fire quickly spread into the building's second- and third-floor apartments...causing up to $30,000 in damage."
