Lenovo K800 shows Imagination for first Intel Atom smartphone

Another one for the record - to hoover up from last week's CES - the Lenovo K800 will be the first Android smartphone powered by the new Intel Atom processor. An Atom Z2460 Medfield, to be precise, featuring an Imagination Technologies GPU.

TechLeash reports that the handset will be launched in China first, and right now there's no official release date for the rest of the world.

Intel has just popped out some serious news: turns out it has a deal with Lenovo, and together they will be launching the Lenovo K800 - the first smartphone in the world featuring an Atom processor. The 4-inch device will be powered by Android and will feature an Intel Atom Z2460 Medfield...

Medfield's system-on-chip design incorporates an X86 architecture central processing unit (CPU), lots of RAM memory, storage and an Imagination Technologies-designed graphics processing unit.
