Google has published its latest platform stats – based on active Android devices interacting with Google Play – and KitKat continues to increase, as you would expect. Share for version 4.4 increases from 5.3% in April to 8.5 in May (a 60% increase, but from a small base. Statistics, statistics, statistics…).

Android in May

In one little micro-development, Jelly Bean III - the newest-but-one version of Android (API 18) - actually fell from 8.9% share in April to 8.5% in March. A small indication, perhaps, that Google is doing a better job of getting the very latest version of Android out there...

“Jelly Bean” in all its varieties accounts for 60.8% of Android devices.
