Got a spare £113,000 lying around?
Why not build yourself a handy Boeing 747 Flight Simulator? That’s what Matthew Sheil did. In what must be the most elaborate Gadget Freak yet, he spent 10 years and more than US$230,000 (around £113,000 at the time of writing) putting together a home-made Boeing 747 Flight Simulator. It takes 13 quad-core Voodoo PCs to power the simulator.
For video, Matthew brought in nice, pocket-sized 42-inch Phillips Ambilight LCD and to control the flight simulator there’s a Saitek X52 joystick and toggle.
We plucked Matthew’s Boeing 747 Flight Simulator from TechEBlog. Regular readers will remember we also found Neuroti-Kart: the home-made go-kart on those pages.
Is there a Gadget Freak out there that can share a home-made device that’s more elaborate than Matthew’s flight simulator? The search continues.
