Turbo coffee roaster smells great

Anyone working within a five kilometre radius of Gadget Freak HQ knows we’re not much fun before we’ve had our morning coffee. In fact, we’ve seen people scurry away with a look of sheer terror in their eyes if they know we haven’t sat down with our morning cappuccino yet.

Now comes a way to ensure that the coffee everyone drinks has a real Kick in it with a capital K.

Self-confessed coffee geek Will O’Brien built a highly modified turbo coffee roaster to ensure his morning cup of coffee was only of the highest quality.

A convection oven up top provides the primary heat source, while the beans are spun around in the roast chamber below. Two thermocouples let the user know what’s happening inside the machine. When the beans are nice and toasty, the top is easily opened and the beans are placed inside a drawer and a fan mounted below cools them to room temperature in around a minute.
