Video: Hacking a calculator for pranks

This one made me smile - a video showing how to mod a calculator for a bit of tomfoolery.

Kipkay.com extracts the message recording unit from one gadget (an "automotive reminder 'thingy'") and solders it into place on the PCB of a calculator, playing the recordings when the equals key is pressed.

Connect two small wires to the equals button, and solder them to the contacts for the play button on the recording module, then solder the wires for the recording module's power to the calculator's battery... "That's how to hack a calculator and turn it into a funny prank."

David Walker:

My favourite trick was to set calculators that had the capability into hex mode, works great with non-computer-literate types.

Cruel, David. (And on the topic of Hex, I can't resist adding a link to - The world's largest collection of binary jokes)
