Power Tool Drag Racing Championship heads to Yeovil

This could be in prospect with an inventive DIY-er crafting a mini dragster powered by six electric saws. Six 40cm Makita circular saws, to be precise. Not so much horse-power as saw-power...

Dubbed the Bolt Lightning, its creator, Barry Lee, is a West Country IT support manager, reports the Metro. He won't be alone, however, but racing against similarly inventive types whose machines are powered by nothing more than household power tools...

Yes, it is the Power Tool Drag Racing Championship. And the Fleet Air Arm Museum is the venue...

According to the website:
Competitors will be hoping to blow away the opposition this weekend at the national Power Tool Drag Racing Championship in Yeovil, which will see experts from the Royal Navy teaming up with Five's Gadget Show to compete against power tool companies and DIY enthusiasts.
Apparently the lightweight machines can reach speed speeds of up to 70mph over short distance.
