Looking at KickStarter, here are a couple of popular projects…
How about the King’s Assembly super gaming mouse?
“A high-precision laser mouse. A full mechanical keyboard. An analog joystick. Together.” That’s the project statement for the device, created by a frustrated gamer – Eric Charlton, founder of Solid Art Labs – who wanted full control of all elements, at once, during games.
The device has a specially contoured palm rest, which means the palm of your hand drives the mouse element, with fingers and thumbs free to operate the integral finger keyboard keys and analogue joysticks (30 programmable keys for each hand, and 5 programmable keys and 2 axis joysticks for each thumb).
The mouse cursor is controlled by a high-end Avago (now Pixart) 9800 optical laser sensor, and the keys use Cherry ML mechanical keyboard switches…
Or how about this gadget for cyclists, the Fly6 – a combination tail-light and HD camera. It serves as a rear bike light but also records what’s behind you (perhaps complementing your front-facing headcam?). It’s based on the premise that people are more likely to do the right thing when they know they are being watch/recorded…
In terms of the video, the resolution is quoted as 1280 x 720 (30 frames per second) and for audio the compression is 16bit PCM/mono/32KHz. There are two light flashing options, the light output is 9.8 Lumens, and it weighs 105g.
- High Definition 720p video recording + audio
- Highly visible tail-light
- USB re-chargeable lithium-ion battery 5hrs+ runtime
- Continual looping video record for easy, set-and-forget use
- Incident capture protection technology
- Lightweight 105g & compact 100mm
- Included 8GB class 10 microSD card
