  1. Well Mike IDC says that 1 billion smartphones were sold last year, and IDC also says that smartphones are 55% of the market, so two billion total phones isn’t out of the ballpark..

  2. I’m really not convinced on your next year’s number. Even the Chinese market is now saturated so it’s replacement only. Will the next iPhone or Samsung really be good enough to persaude almost one in three people on the planet to upgrade ?

  3. it was meant to be a comma Tony but now I look more closely it is, as you say, a full stop posing as a decimal point. my typing has always been rubbish, but thanks for the endorsement for my nose

  4. Ahh, I think you’ve got decimal points instead of commas there, sir.

I never doubted your keen industry nose David, just wondered a little about the typing :-)

  5. Tony that”s 1,836 million i.e nearly 2 billion – seems about right for a planet of 6bn people

Did you mean billion or suchlike, David – 2 million doesn’t seem much for the whole planet in a year :-)
