One hopes that the Apple guys are still getting enough to eat for lunch – because Samsung is doing its best to pinch it.
Samsung is doing to Apple in tablets what it did to them in smartphones – screwing them.
According to analysts IDC, Samsung’s Q4 2012 market share in tablets was 15% and Apple’s was 44%.
In Q4 2011, Samsung’s share was 7.3% and Apple’s was 53%.
Samsung shipped 7.9m tablets in Q4 and Apple shipped 22.9m. In all, 52m tablets were sold in the quarter, says IDC.
The tablet market is mirroring the smartphone market. In 2011, Apple and Samsung were level-pegging in shipments but, in 2012, Samsung shipped 220 million smartphones and Apple shipped 130 million smartphones, say analysts Future Horizons.
