So, 51 years ago today, starts a story in Electronics Weekly’s edition of February 15th 1961


The story continues:


‘Already all the diode lines and some of the transistor production lines are installed and working at full speed.’


‘Among new devices being marketed by Texas Instruments is the XB26 epitaxial silicon transistor.’


‘Texas Instruments’ solid state circuit specialist Mr John Walker told EW that the solid state circuit field is very active in the US. Although the larger part of the output is being consumed by government-sponsored work, there was considerable commercial interest.’


The story concludes:


‘Texas Instruments in the US have one ‘flip-flop’ unit readily available, and there are excellent prospects of more types being marketed in the near future

  2. Hewlett Packard moved into Dallas Road when TI completed their transition to Manton Lane. I was first managing director of HP Ltd and when we expanded I moved them to South Queensferry.
