Freescale Semiconductor's multi-core system-on-chip (SoC) processor for 3D graphics on the car dashboard combines a Power core with a PowerVR graphics core designed by UK firm Imagination Technologies.
But the chip will also provide audio functions such as noise cancellation and voice recognition for dashboard control.
A programmable 32-bit Risc-based multimedia acceleration core is designed to support compressed audio formats, such as MP3, AAC, WMA and Ogg Vorbis, and will support real-time applications.
The Power Architecture-based MPC5121e device combines the e300 core with the PowerVR MBX Lite 2D/3D graphics core, which supports 3D texturing and shading and includes the PowerVR Vertex Geometry processor (VGP Lite) for high-performance vector processing.
