Avnet Memec sees benefit of military chips

Avnet Memec always said that the White Electronic Designs franchise was a big plus from the Azzurri acqusition last year.

So little surprise that the distributor is rolling out the military and aerospace chip franchise outside the UK & Ireland to Italy, France, Nordic, Germany, Switzerland and Turkey.

White's specialty is semiconductor packaging for mission-critical defence and aerospace applications.

When Azzurri Technology was acquired in January 2008 it added a significant 40% to Avnet Memec's sales scorecard and it seems the two businesses have bedded down well together in the last 12 months.

According to Steve Haynes, president of Avnet Memec, the European rollout is "a recognition for our performance over the last months".
