Charcroft takes new spin on distribution with fan deal

Charcroft Electronics has come up with a new spin on the traditional distribution relationship.

It has become part of a novel type of acquisition where a customer has taken control of a troubled supplier.

Car-seat heating systems firm, W.E.T. Automotive Systems of Germany acquired one of its suppliers Comair Rotron from the administrators in October.

A part of that deal was that Charcroft took over the management of the European sales operation for fan manufacturer.

"As the core activity for both W.E.T. and Comair Rotron is manufacturing, we have agreed to extend Charcroft's existing relationship by taking responsibility for Comair Rotron's sales activity through-out  Europe, including developing and managing a network of distributors in key regions," said Jeff Gurr of Charcroft.

According to Paul Meechan from Comair Rotron: "New times need new business models."
