Surtech shows advantage of holding inventory

Distributors looking to cut back inventory in the current economic climate may care to take a look at Surtech Distribution.

Surtech has picked up some contracts for configured APW's Imrak 19-inch racking systems and an important factor in the wins, said the distributor, was its stocking level and next day delivery service.

Last year the company committed to holding a minimum of £200 000 worth of Imrak 1400 stock. This included sub-racking systems enclosures and accessories.

"We believe that our customers, like everyone else, are suffering from the economic slowdown. But that means that they have an even shorter time to market, and therefore we need to be able to react very quickly," said Mike Johnson, Surtech's sales and marketing director.

Surtech stocks the Imrak 1400 19-inch racking system as piece parts.
