A time to add lines and keep delivery times short

Components Bureau believes at a time of reduced inventory levels in the supply chain there is a greater emphasis on distributors to ensure that their sales turnaround times don't suffer.

"In the current climate, stock is being reduced all the way through the supply chain resulting in lead times becoming extended, so we have focused on making our turnaround times faster," says Components Bureau commercial manager Andrew Ferrier.

And he has enlisted the support of specific suppliers to address the production to delivery cycle.

An example is the China-based LED manufacturer behind the illumination of the Birds Nest Stadium at the Beijing Olympics, namely Neo-Neon.

Ferrier points to Neo-Neon's manufacturing capability, its 100,000m² plant producing raw LEDs and its LED chip facility was opened last year.

Capable of producing 1W, 3W and 5W SMD chip solutions, the organisation's expertise in street lighting solutions also gives access to single die 50W, 100W and 120W arrays up to 6500 lumens brightness, making Neo-Neon products perfect for any lighting application.

Components Bureau has also announced a partnership with Taiwanese switch manufacturer, Hua-Jie.

It traditionally sells its tactile, power, rotary, slide, limit and lever switches to America and Asia, but Ferrier believes the company can be a reliable source for UK customers.

"Hua-Jie is able to offer a flexible quota for minimum order, buyer's label, and design and manufacture based on the user's exact requirements," says Ferrier.

The distributor has also added the Far East battery manufacturer, Minamoto to its linecard.

Like others, Ferrier believes now is a good time to be adding new lines.
