Anglia has gained the AS9120 certification which means it can supply components for safety critical flight systems for the aerospace and defence industries.

This accreditation represents a significant investment for the Wisbech-based distributor.

"This approval represents a significant investment for Anglia and strongly demonstrates our commitment to the aerospace, defence and high reliability sectors," said Steve Rawlins, CEO of Anglia.

This could be a smart move for Anglia as it opens up possibilities in one of the more stable, and potentially lucrative, end-markets.

"This market represents a growing opportunity in the UK electronics industry, and winning this approval puts us in pole position to serve its needs," said Rawlins.

It achieved accreditation from BSI to win the approval, which proves that its quality systems and lot traceability elements meet the high standards required by this industry.

The approval is required by many aerospace customers, and is increasingly sought by customers in the defence and other high reliability sectors.

As a supplier to a military and aerospace customer base, Anglia is now working towards gaining formal recognition under the SC21 programme, and expects to achieve this within six to nine months.

Anglia joined the SBAC SC21 programme in July 2009.
