Farnell is adding "consumer-style" features such as "customers also bought" to its website.
Users familiar with consumer websites will recognise the 'customers also bought' function which will provides customers with suggested items related to their current selections.
The distributor is also allowing web account customers to request quotes directly via its website.
Called eQuotes, the new service means that after an online request the customer receives an email reply with a link, that when clicked, confirms all the details of the quotation.
Customers can then add to or amend the quote before placing an order online.
The website will also make it easier for users to navigate by preferred brand/supplier.
Over 55% of Farnell's sales in Europe are carried out via e-commerce.
