Choosing an FPGA is about power and speed, says Acal Technology's managing director Steve Carr
"The key challenge for designers in new FPGA markets is to achieve the perfect balance of power consumption, speed and cost for each application," says Carr.
Designers must not only assess a range of competing technologies and manufacturers, they must also understand the emerging trends within the end-users' market.
"This is critical so that they can be certain that the functions and capabilities they are investing development dollars in today, will retain their competitive edge when the product reaches the market in six to nine months time," says Carr.
