Panasonic Industrial Europe has extended its distribution agreement with MSC to establish a pan-European deal to focus on smart metering technologies.

Included are the wireless modules, ranging from short range 400 to 900MHz modules to 802.15.1 Bluetooth modules, which are developed by Panasonic Electronic Devices Europe in Lueneburg, Germany.

"During the first two years of the pan-European cooperation, we will concentrate primarily on the sectors smart metering, smart grid as well as medical and healthcare applications," said Walter Puhl, manager of the RF group at MSC.

Thomas Klein, CEO distribution of the MSC-Gleichmann Group said that MSC will also develop its own reference designs to support the wireless modules for smart metering and medical applications.

"Bluetooth with Health Device Profile (HDP) and Bluetooth low energy modules will play a decisive role here," said Jan Scheller, sales manager for modules and devices at Panasonic Industrial Europe.
